Water Screen
New Technology Water screen created by water engineers
The folks at Fountain People are the top fountain water display originators and engineers.
What is a water screen?
A water screen system can be installed in a large body of water, or in a lake – large enough to be able to pump a large amount of water quickly. The Water Display sprays water into the air which provides a surface made of water with complete transparency without any obstacles or additional structures.
To put it in other terms the water screen is an incredible projection medium that creates a thin film of water – perfect for projecting of logos, lasers, video, movies and other lighting effects. When projecting the images onto the water screen, it will seem like they are floating in front of the crowd. These effects might be exciting for large resorts, entrances to hotels, light shows, or light shows over a lake.
Outside water features like water screens are projected into the air in the shape of a giant peacock over a large body of water. The fan-like shaped could be could be hundreds of feet in width. Various control choices are available like nozzles to incorporate all water displays with other theatrical components.
The great attraction of a water screen is the surprise element. The other benefits of this technique are the magical effect it gives. The projected picture looks like three-dimensional.
Indoor screens are created the same way but on a much smaller scale. The water will be projected in a smaller area away from the crowd. The water projection will create a water screen one can project logos for example.
Indoor water Screen
Our indoor water screens operate quietly and without a lot of noise to keep your operation area safe and free of distraction. Outside displays use powerful pumps located remotely away from the general crowd. A high powered projection or fan shape is created so that light can be projected onto the water screen. The outdoor water screen is modular in width to match stage area. Outdoor screens can be scaled to fit your performance area.
How can the water display function?
Developing our water screen systems took several months of work from our most senior staff, along with the input from consulting engineers. The basic principle of the screen system would be to shove against water in an upward motion from the ground in a spray that is comparatively flat. This provides a surface that we can project onto using high-power video projectors.
How can the water screen differ from standard screens?
The main difference is that our water displays give a “holographic” look. While accurate free-space three-dimensional holography is now a technological impossibility, our screen provides the closest thing to it. It really is a breathtaking effect.
We require our water screen to be used by a big water source. With a water demand of over 1000 liters per minute of use, we need access to fire hydrant a nearby lake, or river.
